WordPress 2.6 yumminess

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

WordPress 2.6 was a painless subversion update for me. Probably the nicest features for me are word count (although I’m not actually sure when it does the count, definitely on manual saves) and tracking of revisions to posts.

Quit the day job – living off blogging

Sunday, March 9th, 2008
So, after some coming up on 5 years of blogging, 2699 blog entries or so we just got our first $100 of Adsense revenue (minus Wordpress plugins, domain name registrations, servers, maintenance, bandwidth, electricity etc.). That’s about 4c per post!

The good news is that by my calculations we should be pulling in over US$100/month in ad revenue by August 2011, plus or minus the exchange rate. Woohoo! Now if only we could manage to budget to live on the $4/month we’re getting at the moment :)

It seems there are some strange spam comments containing SQL code doing the rounds at the moment.

2008 kickoff

Happy New Year all! So far this year

  •  New Year’s Eve party (Thanks to everyone who turned up (and or washed up, you know who you are!)). New Year’s Eve was celebrated 3 times, once at 9pm for the kids, once at midnight, and once 1 am for all those people who don’t believe in daylight savings :)
  • Most of the week down in Mandurah. Caught the bus-train-bus down. Cost $8.10 for a DayRider ticket, and was pretty good entertainment for Puggle. Mandurah bus connection was a bit flaky on a public holiday, and the aircon was stuck on heat. Time door to door was 2 hours, which Google Maps lists as 88km, 1 hour 26 minutes if you drive it. Conveniently you don’t need to get off the train if you’re coming from the Northern line. Yay for more rail infrastructure!
  • Catching up with friends
  • Done backups, upgraded WordPress to plug some security holes (which I feel more justified in bothering to do given that the next release has been delayed until March.)
  • Have almost managed to relax, in time to feel motivated to achieve stuff. Unfortunately it’s back to work tomorrow :( Or rather, probably later tonight.
