All skin and bones

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

That’d be AlloDerm or Crunch. Amusingly I found the ABC show on repurposing dead tissue “Over My Dead Body” more compelling than The Bionic Woman :)

Funding universities…

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

hopefully some of that future fund money will be spent so that universities get cheaper bandwidth. After all, how come it’s cheaper to download something at home (for university) than to download it at university? God forbid anyone should want to listen to podcasts. I’m guessing the coalition’s optic fibre broadband network doesn’t seem to have made things any cheaper.

Amnesty International or the Catholic Church

Monday, November 12th, 2007

Since Amnesty International has announced it is not anti-abortion it seems that the Catholic Church is not particularly happy with Catholics joining Amnesty.

Friday, November 9th, 2007

I was talking to someone at PerthPodCamp07 who suggested using either redbubble or Pistol clothing to get T-shirts printed in Australia. If anyone knows of any other on-line shirt printing services in Australia please leave a comment and their URL.

Friday, November 9th, 2007

A PDF presentation with some scary stats from Western Australia.

The evidence of harm from overcrowding is quite consistent across a range of settings–Overcrowded hospitals increase the risk of harm and death by at least 20% -30% and may even increase risk above 50% in severe overcrowded conditionsDelays and the increased risk of adverse events are probable mechanisms of the increased mortality associated with overcrowding

In the beginning there were LOLCats

I for one do not welcome our new LOLCat overlords. But I found it amusing that they have their own recounting of the bible.

Extended Weekendage

Monday, November 5th, 2007
  • Thursday - catching up with Rob over dinner
  • Friday - a quiet night at home
  • Saturday - Shopping, training into the Red Bull Air Race (and catching the last Ferry as the first competitor flew overhead) then a quick walk back around the river (as the Transperth ferries weren’t running for the rest of the weekend), checking out the new Esplanade train station on the way home, finishing firing up the Weber (Jamie’s Moroccan lamb) and dinner (followed by pineapple and black pepper tart tatin) with RedBraids and Mikey-Ob and Rob.
  • Sunday - Housemoving, exhaustion, homemade pizza, fevered sleep.

Memories are meant to fade…

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

For some reason these remind me of China Mieville’s Perdido Street Station.

Thursday, November 1st, 2007
It will be a great day when schools have all the money they need and then air force has to run a bakesale to buy a bomber

Well, not exactly the Airforce, or a bomber, but: Bake Sales for Body Armour.
