Maybe there is something for them to be happy about…

Clams have apparently lived to be the oldest animals at 405 to 410 years old.

Tax relief for homeschoolers?

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

So, Peter Tinley, how do Labor’s proposed education tax rebates apply to homeschoolers?(Assuming that any candidate in a marginal electorate is frantically googling the blogosphere. Or maybe I should have mentioned Michael Keenan?)

Low bank fee accounts

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

The Australian Bankers Association has a list of low fee bank accounts, for those who are tired of getting slugged $45 if they accidentally overdraw funds. Some are obviously better than others (ie limiting overdraw fees to only $10)

Bilby

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Bilby’s been with us for a year and is coming along in leaps and bounds (or really, ooches and crawls). To celebrate, crawling was on the agenda. A love of music, Puggle, the water glass and the cat are apparent, as are smiles, head shakes and waves. You bring joy to our hearts and lives.

Puggleisms

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

“I’m nakive!” - which conjures up images of naked native tribesman running through the house.

“Fire, pyre, pyreman!”

To dinner guests - “Would you please possibly mind buying me some boom gates?”

“Cock-a-doodle-do” - anytime, anywhere, at the top of his voice.

Me - “I said, don’t poke your finger into the butter!”
“It’s not my finger, it’s my thumb!”

Me - “What have you got in your mouth?”
“My fingers”
“Where have they been?”
“In my mouth!”

Facebook, fodder for the face recognisers

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

My personal suspicion is that Facebook was created to provide a massive data repository to be mined and fed to the facial recognition software of the US Government, along with the relationships of everyone in the network. I’d guess you could test it by creating a Facebook account for Osama bin Laden and sticking in a picture of John Howard as the userpic.

Some are more unequal than others

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

So whilst the Howard government (and Rudd’s opposition) says it doesn’t interfere in the politics of Indonesia when terrorists or drug dealers are facing the death penalty (because it seems they only oppose the death penalty when it’s politically expedient), they’re happy to pressure Indonesia to prosecute the Garuda pilot who killed 21 people by crashing their plane?
