Strawberries with Pimms
I was watching Jamie Oliver’s latest show “Jamie at Home”, and he made a fab looking dessert. He takes a tray, covers it with hulled strawberries (cut side down), then makes a sauce with seeds scraped from a vanilla pod and a few tablespoons of the syrup from a bottle of ginger in syrup. The source gets poured over the strawberries. Then he cuts up two lumps of syrup ginger into pieces and puts them in randomly with the strawberries. After a few minutes of grilling it comes out, and he pours Pimms (a strange UK alcohol) over the top. Add a scoop of vanilla icecream to let it melt into the hot strawberries for a bit.
Then he plates up with some icecream, strawberries and sauce, and a pile of shortbread biscuits that he’s smashed up, with a mint sprig to set it all off.
Now I guess I’ll have to find some Pimms.

Great for serving prior to a meal when guest arrive. I particularly liked their recipe for mojito: http://www.cheapdrinks.com.au/pag_Mojito.pub
The fresh mint and gomme syrup is a winner. One must do garnishes before serving for that special touch.
