Just finished Geodesica Descent, (sequel of Sean Williams and Shane Dix’s Geodesica Ascent).

Like most Sean Williams books I really enjoyed it. Questioning the nature of humanity and how human relationships can survive in a post-human world across hundreds of years. The characters are probably more angst-ridden than your average Iain M. Banks Culture novel though. Did notice a couple of friends got a mention in the credits too

Annalee Newitz is presenting a talk Revenge of the Female Nerds: Busting Myths about Why Women Can’t Be Technical” at CCC (in Germany), and is a co-editor of “She is Such a Geek” from Seal Press, a collection of essays by female nerds to be released in January 2007.

According to The West Magazine’s TV guide and an ad that just aired (but not at this time yourtv.com.au), Channel 7 start screening Ursula K. Le Guin’s Earthsea (annoying flashness) tonight (Friday 29th December) at 8:30pm.
