Nucular
Friday, June 9th, 2006Did anyone else notice that this whole Australian nuclear powered debate started taking off just after John Howard got back from visiting George W. Bush?
I find it intriguing that now the nuclear lobby are pushing for carbon accounting so that they can get rid of coal fired power stations. I hope the same carbon accounting standards are applied to the uranium refinement process.
I’m also somewhat concerned that even though the proposed Westinghouse reactor incorporates passive safety features (although I don’t believe it’s a pebblebed design), no reactors of this type have been built previously. I mean, I hate to buy any first generation technology.
Supersize you!

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006An interesting article about the US Continuation of Government exercise scheduled for June 19th. Organised by everybody’s favourite Emergency Management Authority, FEMA

Fortunately patent and passport services will be preserved should Washington be annihilated. They do have something right in that their libraries are rated as essential services, along with fire and police
“You’re going to meet some people there…”
Tuesday, June 6th, 2006Got news today that I’ll be heading over to San Francisco for the annual pilgrimage to Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference/MacGeekFest/Steve Jobs Reality Distortion session.
Last time I went the conference was in San Jose, which is (despite the presence of the Rosicrucian Museum of Egyptology), much less interesting than San Fran.
Seven heads and ten crowns
Tuesday, June 6th, 2006Today I got to fill in a form and thus get that subtle thrill of the date being 6/6/06.
Less than one calorie, sort of.
Monday, June 5th, 2006Amazing video of what happens when you add Mentos to Diet Coke complete with funky soundtrack and lab coats.
My Spidey Sense is tingling…
Monday, June 5th, 2006Judging by the number of cop cars flying down the road I’m guessing there’s a riot at Scarborough Beach (at least that’s what it was last time).
