Monday, January 16th, 2006So, our mighty leaders have sold out the environment for a $100 million donation to a climate change fund after the AP6 meeting. That’s like $20 million less than they’ve donated to refurb a coal station in the Eastern states. $100 million is nothing, compared to the cost of the upheaval that awaits us. The news was reporting the ’solution’ as ‘more affordable than Kyoto’. Affordable for whom? Those who attended the conference, I’m guessing.
Meanwhile there was several million dollars spent on security during the meeting.

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006It makes it easier having to be back at work when they give you a quad processor G5 and a video iPod to play with
(The G5’s box looked like it had been sitting on the wharf over the Christmas break. The cardboard was a) waterlogged and b) covered in rusty marks from non-slip steel decking material. Perhaps they just strapped it to the top of the ship or something. Fortunately the machine seems to be working ok).
Oh, and the FireWire 800 cable got some heavy use today. If you’ve got more recent machines, it’s worthwhile getting one to shunt data between them.
