Heads should be rolling at FEMA over New Orleans:
- After 5 days FEMA discovered that people had been evacuated to the convention centre, and were without supplies
- Reports on TripleJ’s Hack indicate that FEMA turned back truckloads of water supplied by Wal-Mart, and fuel provided by the coastguard.
- Hospitals space, 100,000L/day desalination and troops are available to assist and waiting in the gulf but have not been deployed
- School buses which may have been meant to be used as part of the evacuation plan were left to be flooded
- The whole thing was exacerbated because funding to reinforce the levee was redirected towards the Iraq war
- The US National Guard are shooting their own people (the Insurgents)
- Rumour has it (via ABC’s Lateline) that the police released the prison population onto the streets
- Rapper Kayne West’s comments during a Telethon for victims were censored
Meanwhile I’m reviewing my survivalist information from Wastelands ‘con. Because I’d rather not get shot for looting. I’m sure everything in New Orleans was much better because so many people had handguns to defend themselves.
